CROC LEATHER SITUATION

Newest Purchase: Vintage Princess Bleecker Bag thrifted on eBay

When classic pieces like the Vintage Princess bleecker bag sell out, you betcha it'll be on eBay for a steal of the price. Think I've found the holy grail of everyday wear tote bags. It's leather and croc skin add a smidge of sports luxe meets boyfriend style to whatever it is you're sporting. You'll be sorry you didn't invest in a bit of croc leather...

SILK PANELS GALORE

Top to bottom: Sass and Bide tops, Sass and bide the knockout top & nature of happiness shorts, boots from Hong Kong, Elle Australia Magazine, MacBook Air.

I know you're probably thinking that it's just another white top and I'm just another pretentious teenager with a blog... But I assure you my love for it is so much more than that. It's the silk. That glorious silk paneling that so elegantly complements the cotton jersey back. All in all, it's a luxe tank that I probably didn't need but that I hope to transcend into a wardrobe staple.

In other news, I bought a MacBook for uni and I'm glad I did. Definitely one of the most aesthetic pieces of computing machinery out there. And how could I not have opted for this month's Elle seeing it is as enticing as Margot looks on the cover.

SNAKING ME CRAZY

Newest Purchases: Truffle boots / Witchery top / Sass and Bide snakeskin pants.

There truly isn't a better way to start the day than with a delivery. And who knew an eBay one could be just as (or maybe even more) exciting as from an e-boutique. With the top accumulated from a recent trip to DJ's and the snakeskin and boots thrifted on eBay, I was more than satisfied to consider the pieces a tribal moment for me. I'd even go a bit rash and call it a touch of Wasson, just because she's the ultimate girl who didn't care what she was wearing but by chance ended up looking amazing. Anyway, I'd hoped the hard wood floor plus a little indoor palm could consolidate the tribal thing going on here... Maybe not?

BACK TO BASICS: TEN TIMELESS PIECES

Left to right: white t-shirt Alexander Wang / cashmere sweater Bassike / classic sunglasses Karen Walker / leather skirt Eska Alikai / black heels Tony Bianco / white button up shirt Mlle Mademoiselle / black tote Alexander Wang / little black dress Alexander Wang / blue jeans Nobody Denim / boyfriend watch Fossil.

We've all seen trends come and go but these pieces - the wardrobe essentials - these are forever, baby. From the classic white tee to black heels to those perfect blue jeans, whichever the basic, you can be sure of the fact that you'll never get it wrong. They are the must haves that no wardrobe should be without.

From there you can figure out the game changers. Whether you're a sandals or flats kind of gal, cross body satchel or purse, leather jacket or blazer, denim cut offs or dress shorts etc.

In the words of Vivienne Westwood, "buy less, choose well".

RIGHT TURN DOWN AUGUST STREET

Newest Purchase: August Street piper jumpsuit from The Grand Social.

Delivery day is always a glorious one. Especially, when the postman deliveries the alluring goods from August Street the label. A relative new comer on the Aussie fashion scene, I have been eyeing this edgy yet fashion forward brand for some time. With campaigns reminiscent of youthful Aussie Summer chills, the label's latest collection has mimicked the lustre and design approach of high fashion brands (to which Céline comes to mind). I absolutely adore my new jumpsuit's sleek design and modern colour palette. Who knew minimal could meet colour...

You can shop August Street on The Grand Social here.

WHITE EDIT BLACK EDIT

White, Top to bottom: Calvin Klein one perfume, Celine sunglasses, Bassike t-shirt, Eska Alikai tank, Helmut Lang shirt, Sass and Bide shorts, Eska Alikai skirt, Eska Alikai skirt, Jil Sander pants, Eska Alikai sandals, Givenchy leather sandal.

Black, Top to Bottom: Calvin Klein one perfume, Karen Walker sunglasses, Nobody tee, Urban Outfitters bralet, Bassike t-shirt, Motel skirt, Asos skirt, Alexander Wang skirt, Nobody jeans, Asos chelsea boots, Atmos and Here sandal.

The best part about holidays would have to be the spare time that enables you to make polyvore-esque collages like these. I should probably just make one instead of filling my blog with collages, but for the mean time I suppose that's the way it's gonna be.

I think it's fair to say that half the population love this white on white black on black business and the other half abhor it. Most of the people I know are into prints, colour and more frivolous designs, which is probably a good influence to have. The inability to incorporate these things into one's wardrobe is every minimalist's greatest struggle.

Anyway, I hope to accumulate some whites/blacks from these collages soon. Add to the collection, you know.

AN ARTFUL START

Top to bottom: New Shakuhachi dress / exquisite art found on tumblr (source unknown) / prettty screencap

The new year has seen old and new habits come into gear. A combo of work, decor/art hunting, tumblring, online shopping, seeing friends, yoga and smoothie experimentation has had me counting my blessings more than once.

I'm all too content with the newest edition to my Shakuhachi family. A previous post saw this beaut centered in my shift collage, as I had been eyeing it since the collection's release. Lighter than paper, this silk Shak dress makes for a solid rework of trendy blooms, seen perpetually in the 2000s, that has continued to flourish since. Overall, I'm digging the blacks and blues that make this rosy piece so neo romantic and its shapely reference to mod culture.

Always on the hunt for minimal decor and art prints, I finally stumbled across the perfect print. Found on tumblr, I really loved this peachy-black-blue brush work that would be divine in my room. Hopefully, I'll sort out printing and hanging soon.

Yeah. As you can see, good old tumblr is always on the agenda... I should probably stop making screenshots and do some actual blogging instead. Next time.

RESOLUTIONS

As the new year approaches I suppose I had to ask myself, what can I do now that I haven't been able to do before?

Finishing school and being able to get a part time job has given me so much time to focus on the things that make me smile. Family, friends, fashion, travel and the internet are a few on which I have been fixated.

Even went back to tumblr today, something that I strayed away from when school life got crazy busy. Check it out at prettty.tumblr.com

FIVE OR SO SHADES OF GREY

Top to bottom: Calvin Klein SS 08 / silver liquid / Nike luxe sportswear / Kate Moss / Acne SS 11 / Alexander Wang SS 13 / girl at airport / Leonardo Dicaprio.

Sure, black is sleek. And white is crisp. But what is the value of grey?

For starters, there are at least fifty shades ie. blue grey, grey marle, silver, charcoal, pale grey etc. As the hue between black and white, grey hints of versatility and transeasonal dressing. It is the palette cleanser that will surely fuel many outfit lusts to come...

WALKING ON A WILTING WONDERLAND

Clockwise, from top middle: Shakuhachi rose dress / Triangl swimwear / August Street playsuit / plants from Eclectic Edition instagram / Karla Spetic top / OPI nail polish / Witchery shorts / Urban Outfitters bralet / Clare Vivier leopard clutch / Shakuhachi skirt / NARS nail polish / Lover The Label top / Dion Lee dress / Shakuhachi Odyssey sunglasses.

Look up 'wilt' in the dictionary and you'll find it is when a plant becomes limp through heat and a loss of fluid. I suppose, as Aussies, we have become warriors at overcoming this all year round. We've embraced the sea, the salt and the heat with open arms, while, some use it as an excuse to purchase as many beauty products as possible.

Our boisterous sun culture has made for some telling statements from the Aussie fashion industry. I am loving rich red tones and chilling whites and blues - a perfect metaphor about life on the sand and the sea.

Love that my Christmas wishlist can be inspired by the Australian summer... Merry Christmas to all!

CRAZY SHIFTED LOVE

Clockwise, from top middle: Twiggy / Lindsey Wixson in Victoria Beckham / Shakuhachi / Cara Delevingne in Costume National / 4.collective sleeveless / Princess Polly / Alexander Wang / Asos leopard print / Kate Moss for US Vogue 1995 / Olivia Palermo in Free People / Lavish Alice / Cara Delevingne / Princess Polly / Bambi Northwood Blyth / Gabby Westbrook Patrick & Maddison Brown in Louis Vuitton / metallic grey marle shift / Emma Cook Joanie dress / Alexander Wang / Dragonberry / Jackie Kennedy Onassis / Shakuhachi.

At first glance of my Christmas wishlist, it is all too clear that shift dresses seem to be my flavour of the month. Always been a fan of sixties mod style and the silhouettes it has influenced, and it is high time I paid homage. As you can see, I'm particularly loving the bold colours and prints.

So I dedicate my first post to my new staple - shift dress. Hoping someone can find a bit of Christmas gift inspiration in this sea of shifts!
