BACK TO BASICS: TEN TIMELESS PIECES

Left to right: white t-shirt Alexander Wang / cashmere sweater Bassike / classic sunglasses Karen Walker / leather skirt Eska Alikai / black heels Tony Bianco / white button up shirt Mlle Mademoiselle / black tote Alexander Wang / little black dress Alexander Wang / blue jeans Nobody Denim / boyfriend watch Fossil.

We've all seen trends come and go but these pieces - the wardrobe essentials - these are forever, baby. From the classic white tee to black heels to those perfect blue jeans, whichever the basic, you can be sure of the fact that you'll never get it wrong. They are the must haves that no wardrobe should be without.

From there you can figure out the game changers. Whether you're a sandals or flats kind of gal, cross body satchel or purse, leather jacket or blazer, denim cut offs or dress shorts etc.

In the words of Vivienne Westwood, "buy less, choose well".

NOTHING TASTES AS GOOD AS SKINNY FEELS

Just a tribute to the oh so cool Kate Moss of the 90's, who today celebrated her 40th, headed by her own oh so controversial words.

Probably Moss' most famous and contentious quote, 'nothing tastes as good as skinny feels' has become a mantra for teenage girls and young adults. It is surely worthy of discussion and stigmatization when applied to the context of one's mental and physical health

I'm not sure I want to go into all that, but what the quote says to me is that Moss is someone who speaks her mind. It fascinates me how she was able to blurt out something so inconsequential to herself yet so outrageous to the public.

I basically have perpetual love for Moss and the simple fact she does what she wants. Happy 40th Kate, you absolute beaut xx

WHITE EDIT BLACK EDIT

White, Top to bottom: Calvin Klein one perfume, Celine sunglasses, Bassike t-shirt, Eska Alikai tank, Helmut Lang shirt, Sass and Bide shorts, Eska Alikai skirt, Eska Alikai skirt, Jil Sander pants, Eska Alikai sandals, Givenchy leather sandal.

Black, Top to Bottom: Calvin Klein one perfume, Karen Walker sunglasses, Nobody tee, Urban Outfitters bralet, Bassike t-shirt, Motel skirt, Asos skirt, Alexander Wang skirt, Nobody jeans, Asos chelsea boots, Atmos and Here sandal.

The best part about holidays would have to be the spare time that enables you to make polyvore-esque collages like these. I should probably just make one instead of filling my blog with collages, but for the mean time I suppose that's the way it's gonna be.

I think it's fair to say that half the population love this white on white black on black business and the other half abhor it. Most of the people I know are into prints, colour and more frivolous designs, which is probably a good influence to have. The inability to incorporate these things into one's wardrobe is every minimalist's greatest struggle.

Anyway, I hope to accumulate some whites/blacks from these collages soon. Add to the collection, you know.

WALKING ON A WILTING WONDERLAND

Clockwise, from top middle: Shakuhachi rose dress / Triangl swimwear / August Street playsuit / plants from Eclectic Edition instagram / Karla Spetic top / OPI nail polish / Witchery shorts / Urban Outfitters bralet / Clare Vivier leopard clutch / Shakuhachi skirt / NARS nail polish / Lover The Label top / Dion Lee dress / Shakuhachi Odyssey sunglasses.

Look up 'wilt' in the dictionary and you'll find it is when a plant becomes limp through heat and a loss of fluid. I suppose, as Aussies, we have become warriors at overcoming this all year round. We've embraced the sea, the salt and the heat with open arms, while, some use it as an excuse to purchase as many beauty products as possible.

Our boisterous sun culture has made for some telling statements from the Aussie fashion industry. I am loving rich red tones and chilling whites and blues - a perfect metaphor about life on the sand and the sea.

Love that my Christmas wishlist can be inspired by the Australian summer... Merry Christmas to all!

CRAZY SHIFTED LOVE

Clockwise, from top middle: Twiggy / Lindsey Wixson in Victoria Beckham / Shakuhachi / Cara Delevingne in Costume National / 4.collective sleeveless / Princess Polly / Alexander Wang / Asos leopard print / Kate Moss for US Vogue 1995 / Olivia Palermo in Free People / Lavish Alice / Cara Delevingne / Princess Polly / Bambi Northwood Blyth / Gabby Westbrook Patrick & Maddison Brown in Louis Vuitton / metallic grey marle shift / Emma Cook Joanie dress / Alexander Wang / Dragonberry / Jackie Kennedy Onassis / Shakuhachi.

At first glance of my Christmas wishlist, it is all too clear that shift dresses seem to be my flavour of the month. Always been a fan of sixties mod style and the silhouettes it has influenced, and it is high time I paid homage. As you can see, I'm particularly loving the bold colours and prints.

So I dedicate my first post to my new staple - shift dress. Hoping someone can find a bit of Christmas gift inspiration in this sea of shifts!
